 From Jan Samuel – ur. 08.06.1735 r. w rodzinie malborskiego pastora magistra Natanela Efraima F. Wykształcenie średnie otrzymał w gimnazjum rodzimego miasta. Studiował filozofię, teologię, historię i matematykę na uniwersytetach w Królewcu (1753-1756) i Roztoce (1757-1759) jako stypendysta malborskiej Rady Miejskiej. Po powrocie ze studiów został mianowany rektorem gimnazjum w Malborku. W 1762 r. władze gdańskie przychyliły się do jego prośby i wpisano go w poczet kandydatów na pastorów. Oczekując na posadę pastora, kierował nadal gimnazjum w rodzinnym mieście, organizował też w nim uroczystości z okazji koronacji Stanisława Augusta Poniatowskiego. Dnia 20.10.1766 r. został zatrudniony w Gimnazjum Elbląskim na stanowisku konrektora oraz profesora filozofii praktycznej, historii i poezji. Pracował do roku 1782 – do momentu konfliktu i sporu z nowym rektorem Jerzym Hartwigiem.
