 Börger Jakub – urodzony w 1640 r. w Królewcu. Studiował matematykę i teologię w Królewcu i Roztoce, tytuł magistra uzyskał na uniwersytecie królewieckim. Po studiach przez krótki czas był konrektorem w Toruniu. Od 14.11.1675 r. piastował urząd rektora w Gimnazjum Elbląskim aż do swojej śmierci – 13.04.1688 r. Jakub posiadał wszechstronne zainteresowania naukowe. Twórczość jego obejmuje przeszło 20 pozycji bibliograficznych, dotyczących filozofii, teologii, prawa, historii i astronomii. Pisał też liczne panegiryki, m.in. z okazji koronacji Jana III Sobieskiego i jego zwycięstwa pod Wiedniem.
